Drooble looks to be a one stop shop for any type of musical collaboration online as well as a social networking platform / band page. Theres quite a lot so just a quick overview of some of the features. You can log straight into Drooble with an existing Facebook account or just create a new Drooble account. Once your logged in your presented with a familiar looking social feed and there seems to be lots of activity already. Here you can see posts about a number of different things, from posting to promote a band to requests for musicians to join projects or someone posting because they want to jam with someone. These guys look to be making Drooble an over-arching hub for everything you need to manage your musical identity and Read more ›
Looplabs is a new Cloud based Multi-Track DAW with a collaborative / remix angle. There are a number of Cloud based studios in this sort of vein out there now that i have mentioned on the site like Pickasound, Sofasession and Soundtrap but lets look out what these guys have to offer. Create a profile and tell the site what sort of genres your into and what instruments you play. Read more ›
Flashband is a social networking platform specifically aimed at musicians. These guys have been around since 2012 it seems but they have relaunched with more features and more ways to connect with other musicians. A basic outline of how they work would be along the lines of other social networking sites. Create a profile and post to the site to let people know what projects you are working on or to post a collaboration on the site and state what type of talent you are looking for. You can also use the site to post news of upcoming events. Currently this site seems to be mainly focussed on and used by people in the American east coast but maybe they are considering making it accessible to musicians the world over. go take a look if interested.
Matt Black of Coldcut / Ninjatune fame and now music app developer (Ninja Jamm) has been working away behind the scenes on Sync Jam!. the idea being that you can seamlessly synchronise a series of mobile devices using an available Wi-Fi network or LAN and Jam away with each other perfectly in time!. Theres a very enticing little video you can watch here to see it in action. At the moment there is a link to the code on Github if you are code savvy or otherwise Matt says its coming to your Android or IOS device soon so i suppose there is an app in the pipeline!
ROLI is a Hardware / Software technology start up based in London who specialise in design led interactive technologies. Check out their Grand soft keyboard. ROLI have acquired Blend, an OMC app we have mentioned a number of times on the site. Crowdsound is an interesting little experiment in Online Music Collaboration which they describe as “an experiment in crowd-sourced songwriting”. The basic idea behind this site is that a song is being created note by note based on a simple system where you listen to the song as far as it has been made so far, then decide on which note you think is the best choice to come next. you then submit your vote and the most popular choice is selected. there is a simple piano roll view on the page where you can view the track in progress and also change sounds or tempo too. So go ahead and write a song with a crowd!
I touched briefly on Recordtogether last year in a post on this site. it seems like they have undergone a bit of a major revamp and are in the process of launching Version 2. from having a quick browse of the site it looks like they have updated with a swish looking new cloud based DAE where you can record Audio and also Midi on a piano roll type view. All the other usual features you would expect from an OMC site seem to be there as well. if your interested and want to sign up for early access to see what its like go to their site and sign up for Alpha!
Pickasound is the brainchild of Toju Ometoruwa. he has spent 5 years promoting his music through social networks but realised creating music in isolation was limiting his ability to reach full potential. Pickasound has been targeted at ‘amateur musicians, producers and non-musicians’ . The idea being they sample and remix each others work and collaborate across genres. Pickasound has a very cool feature which Read more ›
