Drooble

DroobleDrooble looks to be a one stop shop for any type of musical collaboration online as well as a social networking platform / band page. Theres quite a lot so just a quick overview of some of the features. You can log straight into Drooble with an existing Facebook account or just create a new Drooble account. Once your logged in your presented with a familiar looking social feed and there seems to be lots of activity already. Here you can see posts about a number of different things, from posting to promote a band to requests for musicians to join projects or someone posting because they want to jam with someone. Flashband

Flashband-LogoFlashband is a social networking platform specifically aimed at musicians. These guys have been around since 2012 it seems but they have relaunched with more features and more ways to connect with other musicians. A basic outline of how they work would be along the lines of other social networking sites. Create a profile and post to the site to let people know what projects you are working on or to post a collaboration on the site and state what type of talent you are looking for. You can also use the site to post news of upcoming events. Currently this site seems to be mainly focussed on and used by people in the American east coast but maybe they are considering making it accessible to musicians the world over. go take a look if interested.

Crowdsound

crowdsoundCrowdsound is an interesting little experiment in Online Music Collaboration which they describe as “an experiment in crowd-sourced songwriting”. The basic idea behind this site is that a song is being created note by note based on a simple system where you listen to the song as far as it has been made so far, then decide on which note you think is the best choice to come next. you then submit your vote and the most popular choice is selected. there is a simple piano roll view on the page where you can view the track in progress and also change sounds or tempo too. So go ahead and write a song with a crowd!

Recordtogether V2

rticonI touched briefly on Recordtogether last year in a post on this site. it seems like they have undergone a bit of a major revamp and are in the process of launching Version 2. from having a quick browse of the site it looks like they have updated with a swish looking new cloud based DAE where you can record Audio and also Midi on a piano roll type view. All the other usual features you would expect from an OMC site seem to be there as well. if your interested and want to sign up for early access to see what its like go to their site and sign up for Alpha!

pickasound2Pickasound is the brainchild of Toju Ometoruwa. he has spent 5 years promoting his music through social networks but realised creating music in isolation was limiting his ability to reach full potential. Pickasound has been targeted at ‘amateur musicians, producers and non-musicians’ . The idea being they sample and remix each others work and collaborate across genres. Pickasound has a very cool feature which Read more ›
